Kanakana

Kanakana, a charming cafe in Nara, is a 'Cafe Hyakumeiten WEST 2025' selection, set in a beautifully renovated traditional townhouse (machiya). Located about a 15-minute walk from Kintetsu Nara Station, it retains a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere. The cafe is renowned for its healthy and satisfying "Kanakana Gohan" set meal, which includes a variety of small dishes, curry, doria, and delightful baked puddings. Its relaxing ambiance, especially the traditional tatami seating, makes it a popular spot, particularly among women, often leading to a short wait. While credit cards are not accepted, QR code payments are. Kanakana does not offer private rooms, but also sells general goods, books, and sweets.
